Release Date: 8 October 2026
The next major Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game booster set is almost here, and it's one for the fans. Beyond the Brave is a love letter to some of the most iconic Duelists in the franchise's history — Joey Wheeler, Aster Phoenix, and the ancient mysteries of Atlantis — all wrapped up in a set packed with powerful new cards and reimagined classics.
Joey Wheeler Takes Centre Stage
Joey Wheeler has always been the heart of Yu-Gi-Oh!, and Beyond the Brave gives him his most exciting card suite yet. The centrepiece is the Dark Time Wizard Quick-Play Spell Card, which celebrates Joey's most memorable Duels against Rex, Mai, Bonz, Espa Roba, Mako, and Odion.
Dark Time Wizard offers two effects — one safe, one risky, just like Joey himself:
- Safe route: Search your Deck for any card that mentions Dark Time Wizard, then recover a Dark Time Wizard from your Graveyard during the End Phase.
- Risky route: Flip a coin. Win, and you destroy all your opponent's monsters and deal damage equal to half their combined ATK. Lose, and your monsters are destroyed instead — but you take no damage.
As a bonus, whenever Dark Time Wizard destroys monsters, you can Tribute a monster to Special Summon the brand-new Red-Eyes Black Dragon Exceed Fusion Monster from your Extra Deck — a 3400 ATK powerhouse immune to your opponent's Spell and monster effects, with the ability to Summon any Level 8 or lower monster from your hand or Graveyard.
Aster Phoenix and the Destiny HEROes
Aster Phoenix fans are well catered for in Beyond the Brave, with a fresh wave of reimagined Destiny HERO cards:
- Destiny HERO – Doom Overlord banishes an opponent's monster and searches Clock Tower Prison or the new Dark City at Midnight.
- Destiny HERO – Destro-Dogma Special Summons itself with 3400 ATK, threatens 2000 damage in the next Standby Phase, and can trigger a Fusion Summon whenever your opponent activates a card or effect.
- Destiny HERO – Dreadnought Master adds 2 Destiny HERO-related cards from your Deck to your hand, with ATK that scales based on all Destiny HEROes on your field and in your Graveyard.
The Secrets of Atlantis
Beyond the Brave dives deep into the lore of Atlantis with a powerful new wave of ocean-themed cards. Atlantis, City of the Sea Dragon is a Field Spell that reduces all monster Levels by 1, disrupts Extra Deck strategies, and enables easier Link Summons of the new Daedalus monsters — all while returning itself from the Graveyard to keep the pressure on.
Key monsters include:
- Azure Ocean Dragon Lord – Neo-Daedalus Rage: Special Summons up to 3 monsters from your Graveyard that mention Atlantis, and can send an "Umi" to wipe the field of non-"Umi" cards.
- Levia-Dragoon – Daedalus: Special Summons a monster directly from your Deck, and can force your opponent to redraw their entire hand.
- Levia-Dragon of Atlantis – Daedalus: Trades up to 3 "Umi" cards for 3 Atlantis-related cards from your Deck, then destroys any card on the field.
All of these monsters become "Umi" while on the field, creating a synergistic flood of effects.
The Ashtra Archetype: Trap-Based Terror
A brand-new archetype arrives in Beyond the Brave — the Ashtra monsters, summoned by simply revealing a face-down card and returning it to your hand or Extra Deck. If that card was a Spell or Trap, you can place it face-down again, making this one of the most Trap-friendly strategies in the game.
Highlights include:
- Akasuna the Battle Ashtra: Sends a Trap to the Graveyard to flip all opponent's monsters face-down.
- Ashtraja Susanoo & Ashtraya Mikumari-no-Mikoto: Synchro Monsters that banish cards en masse or surgically remove problem cards, while setting more Traps.
- Every Ashtra Trap Card can also be Summoned as a Tuner monster, adding incredible strategic flexibility.
Complement the strategy with Audhumla, Progenitor of the Frozen Expanse — a world premiere card that swaps unneeded Spells/Traps for fresh draws, bonus Special Summons WATER monsters, and protects your face-down cards from targeting and destruction. It also comes with an extended art version.
