Riftbound Legacy – Everything We Know About the 6th Set

Riftbound Legacy – Everything We Know About the 6th Set

Note: We will keep updating this article as more information about Legacy is released.

What Is Legacy?

Legacy is the sixth set for the Riftbound: League of Legends Trading Card Game and the first set of 2027. It releases January 29, 2027 worldwide, with previews beginning at Convergence Fest in December 2026.

Legacy is built around regional identity. The six regions of Demacia, Noxus, Ionia, Piltover/Zaun, Freljord, and Bilgewater each have a presence in the set's cards and mechanics, with the goal of making each game feel like a clash between two regional playstyles rather than just two decks. It is also the first Riftbound set designed with drafting as a priority.

Pack Contents Update

Starting with Legacy, one Common card slot in each booster pack is being replaced with a slot dedicated to either a Legend or a Battlefield card at roughly 50/50 frequency. This means Legacy packs and all sets going forward will contain 6 Common cards instead of 7.

Showcase Legends and Battlefields are not affected by this change and will continue to appear in the Overnumber slots as before.

Templating Updates

Legacy introduces two visual changes to how cards are templated:

  • A grey backer is added to words in rules text that are targets, making it easier to identify targetable parts of a card at a glance.
  • A new arrow symbol separates the condition of a triggered ability from its effect — everything to the left is the trigger condition, everything to the right is the resulting ability.

The word Play is also being cleaned up: token creation will now use Create as its verb, and When you play me becomes When I enter on all future cards.

League Classic Crossover

Legacy will feature card art inspired by League of Legends Classic. No further details have been confirmed yet.

Proving Grounds, 2nd Edition

Releasing in February 2027 following Legacy's launch, Proving Grounds 2nd Edition is an updated boxed starter product featuring four new Champion decks.
